Susan Sanders is a certified mathematics teacher who has 30 years of teaching experience from Kindergarten through AP Calculus through GRE Prep. She tutors both private and public charter school homeschool students as well as students enrolled in local private and public schools. Although she has taught extensively in high school and collegiate classroom settings, her first love is one-on-one tutoring.
"When I work with one student at a time, I am able to understand their learning styles and help them grasp mathematical concepts. We can work at their pace, whether accelerated, remedial, or in between, and supplement instruction in ways particularly meaningful to them. I know that I can help each student increase their math skills and confidence. Student attitudes improve when math instruction is gentle, interesting, personable, and pleasant. I try to help my students understand themselves and how they learn, and how their learning characteristics can be a part of their math success."

Susan has been a lifeline for us this year. She has an innate sense of a student’s capacity to understand concepts in a subject that can often feels so elusive. She has an uncanny ability to gently steer a student toward understanding, even in the midst of their frustration with a concept. Her weekly sessions with us have been one of the great joys of our homeschool year.
